The league will be using Version 5 of the Living Rulebook - you can download a copy below.
Your starting roster must have between 11 and 16 players (plus as many backroom/cheerleading staff as you can afford). Obviously numbers may drop below 11 during the league - this is a tough sport (just ask Nick!) - but can never exceed 16.
All teams start with no Fan Factor at all and you can't buy any starting fans - you'll have to earn them by not losing games!
Each team plays each of the other teams once with the aim of completing fixtures by the end of October.
Once all league fixtures have been played the top four teams will play each other - the team finishing top playing the fourth placed team and second place playing third place. The winners of these matches will then meet to determine the Official Aftermath World Champion*. The 2008 championship game will be played at the magnificant McMurty Park stadium (although it is unlikely to feature the home team). In accordance with LRB rules, there'll be no inducements available to either side in either the play-off or championship matches.
Teams will get three points for a win and one point for a draw.
League/table position will be determined by:
Star players and other inducements will be as per the rulebook.
The league will use the "spiraling expenses" optional rule to reduce the risk of having teams get too far ahead of halflings strugglers.
The Most Valuable Players for each game - one per team - will be awarded to the players who - in their opponent's opinion - provided the most entertainment during the match. If no one is eligible (which is hopefully unlikely), then the coaches roll for it randomly.
I've put together an Excel spreadsheet which may be helpful to you for building your roster and Ian P's provided a handy Excel spreadsheet for keeping track of your team throughout the season. Both can be downloaded below. Alternatively, use the Forms page to let the website generate your roster sheet.
